WHO IS GOD AS A FATHER?

NTRODUCTION
Many of us know God as Lord, as King, as Saviour. But today God wants us to see Him as FATHER.
An earthly father can fail us. He can be absent, harsh, broke, or inconsistent. But our Heavenly Father? He never changes.

David said in Psalm 27:10 “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.”
That is the Father we are talking about today.

Let’s walk through 10 truths about WHO GOD IS AS A FATHER:

10 REVELATIONS OF GOD THE FATHER

1. AN EVER-PRESENT FATHER Psalm 46:1
   “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
   You are never alone. When battles rise, when delays come, He is RIGHT THERE. Not watching from afar. He is EVER present with you!.
   “For in him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
2. A COMPASSIONATE FATHER Psalm 103:13
   “As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him.”
   He doesn’t mock your tears. He doesn’t despise your weakness. He feels with you. His heart moves toward you
3. A FAITHFUL FATHER Deuteronomy 7:9
   “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God…”
   Man can promise and fail. God promises and performs. What He said about you SHALL stand.
4. A FATHER WHO DELIGHTS IN US Zephaniah 3:17
   “He will rejoice over you with gladness… He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
   Hear this: God SINGS over you. You are not a burden to Him. You are His delight.
5. AN ADOPTIVE FATHER Romans 8:15
   “You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry, Abba, Father.”
   You were not an accident. God chose you. He put His name on you. You belong to the family.
6. A DISCIPLINING FATHER Hebrews 12:6
   “For whom the Lord loves He chastens…”
   Correction is not rejection. When God corrects you, it’s because He’s raising you. He’s preparing you for what’s next.
7. A PROVIDER FATHER Matthew 6:31-32
   “Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
   He sees the bill. He sees the lack. He sees the need. And He will supply. Don’t beg like an orphan. Ask like a son.
8. A PROTECTOR FATHER Psalm 27:1, 5
   “The Lord is my light and my salvation… He shall hide me in His pavilion.”
   Just like we prayed Psalm 27. He covers your home, your children, your business. Evil arrows will not locate you.
9. A LOVING FATHER Jeremiah 31:3
   “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”
   His love didn’t start yesterday and it won’t end tomorrow. It’s everlasting.
10. A FORGIVING FATHER Luke 15:20
    The prodigal son story. “But when he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion… and ran and embraced him.”
    No matter how far you’ve gone, the Father is still watching the road for you. He runs to forgive.

3 APPLICATIONS FOR US TODAY:

1.  Stop relating to God as a Boss and start relating as a Son. Bosses pay wages. Fathers give inheritance.
2. Heal your view of God. If your earthly father wounded you, don’t project that on God. This is who He REALLY is.
3. Live like a son, not a servant. Servants fear punishment. Sons trust the Father’s heart.

CLOSING DECLARATION
Father, thank You because You are present, compassionate, faithful, and loving.
Thank You that You delight in us, You provide for us, You protect us, and You forgive us.
Today I choose to rest under the shadow of Your wings.
I am not an orphan. I am a son/daughter of the Most High.
